McKinsey & Company Scientific Award 2026

Financing description

Thanks to the support of McKinsey & Company, the FNRS will grant, in 2026, the McKinsey & Company Scientific Award  to a researcher who can demonstrate the societal and economic relevance OR the practical applicability of his/her doctoral thesis.

Main features

• The doctoral thesis must pertain to one of the following fields:
  • Exact sciences
  • Applied sciences
  • Social, Economic or management sciences
  • Biomedical sciences
• Amount:  €5,000 for personal use.

Eligible applicants 

• The PhD thesis must have been publicly defended in 2025 in a university of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels or the Royal Military Academy.
• Candidates must be affiliated to a recognized university (within or outside the Federation Wallonia-Brussels) at the deadline of the call.
• The thesis may not have been previously rewarded, except by an honorary Award.
• McKinsey & Company staff are not eligible for the Award.

Call timeline

• Opening of the call: December 2, 2025
• Deadline of the call: March 2, 2026
• Panel meeting: Spring 2026

Applications, written in English, must be sent electronically to prix@frs-fnrs.be  on 2 ^n/a  March 2026 (midnight Brussels time), at the latest.

The requested documents are:

• Tea application form duly completed and signed.
• A detailed curriculum vitae.
• A complete list of publications.
• An electronic version of the thesis.
