Les Visages de la Recherche - LN24
Scientific research is part of our daily lives. Researchers funded by the FNRS explain it, in an accessible and passionate manner, every week to Pascal Vrebos. They confide in their work, their challenges, their ambitions. Two seasons are now available on our channel!
First to launch for the 2nd season: Nicolas Lanthier , FNRS Clinical Researcher at the Saint-Luc University Clinics, UCLouvain. He has one foot in fundamental research, the other with patients. He works on fatty liver disease, otherwise called "fatty liver disease" which affects 20 to 30% of the Belgian population. He seeks to understand the mechanisms, identify patients at risk and develop targeted treatment.
Simon Dellicour , FNRS Qualified Researcher at ULB, is also up for the game. This “virus cartographer” exploits “the very large quantity of genetic information contained in these pathogens to answer questions beyond the reach of traditional approaches”. He also explains how the Covid 19 crisis has changed the way scientists work and he returns to his latest study which focuses precisely on the origins of the epidemic.
