Financing description

The "Wernaers Fund for Research and Dissemination of Knowledge" aims to support actions to promote research and disseminate scientific knowledge. To this end, the Fund will grant in 2026:

  • One or more Wernaers Prize  for scientific popularization
  • Of the Media grants  contributing to the development of interest in scientific culture

Prize for Scientific Popularization

  • These Prizes, in the amount of 6.500 € each (for personal use), reward people who have demonstrated creativity, innovation and relevance in the communication of their knowledge.
  • Candidates must be attached to a university institution or a Haute Ecole  long type of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
  • More information on the eligibility criteria and the rules prohibiting accumulation is available in the regulations. 

Subsidies to media contributing to the development of interest in scientific culture 

  • These Grants, of a maximum amount of 15.000 € each, make it possible to contribute to the costs of production, promotion, shipping and updating of media contributing to the development of interest in scientific culture.
  • Granted for a period of max. 3 years, they are intended to support media of different types.
  • More information on the eligibility criteria and the rules prohibiting accumulation is available in the regulations.

  • Call deadline: March 2, 2026
  • Meeting of the Advisory Council (Jury): spring 2026
  • Meeting of the Wernaers Fund Management Committee: spring 2026
