6 projects financed at the end of the PINT-Bilat-M 2020 call between the F.R.S-FNRS and the " NSFC " (China)

The Fund for Scientific Research - FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS), in partnership with "The National Natural Science Foundation of China - NSFC" (China), is pleased to announce the results of the call launched in early March 2020 in the framework of the instrument called "PINT-BILAT-M" (bilateral research mobility projects).

Fifteen applications have been submitted to evaluation procedures by the F.R.S.-FNRS and the NSFC (China) and the agencies have jointly selected six projects for funding, details of which can be found in the list below.

Each team funded by the F.R.S.-FNRS will receive a maximum amount of 15.000 € over a period of two years in order to finance, in particular, travel, scientific workshops/congresses and, possibly, operating costs. The projects will be carried out in collaboration with Chinese teams which will be financed by the NSFC (China).

 


Results of the bilateral call for 2020 projects between the F.R.S-FNRS and " MOST " (Taiwan)

The Fund for Scientific Research - FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS), in partnership with "The Ministry of Science and Technology - MOST" (Taiwan), is pleased to announce the results of the first call launched in spring 2020 within the framework of the instrument called "PINT-BILAT-M" (bilateral research mobility projects).

Seven applications were submitted to evaluation procedures by the F.R.S.-FNRS and MOST (Taiwan) and the agencies have jointly selected four projects for funding, details of which are listed below.

Each team funded by the F.R.S.-FNRS will receive a maximum amount of 15.000 € over a period of two years in order to finance, in particular, travels, scientific workshops/congresses and, possibly, operating costs. The projects will be carried out in collaboration with Taiwanese teams which will be financed by the "MOST" (Taiwan).

 


Launch of the second call of the EOS program

On November 27, 2020 at 2 p.m., the FNRS and the FWO will jointly launch the second call of the Scientific Excellence Program (EOS).

EOS encourages joint research between researchers from the Flemish Community and the French Community, possibly in collaboration with foreign partners, by financing 4-year joint basic research projects in any scientific discipline.

With this in mind, we invite you to attend the EOS webinar that will take place on Friday 27 November 2020 from 14:00 to 15:30.

During this webinar, we will inform you about the key (updated) elements of the EOS program as well as the calendar. We will also take the time to answer some of your questions directly. Opening of the EOS 2021 call : Pre-announcement

The F.R.S.-FNRS organizes, jointly with the FWO, the second edition of the Excellence Of Science - EOS call.

The two funds will officially launch the EOS 2021 call on November 27, 2020 during a joint information session.

The rules of the EOS 2021 call and a document detailing the regulatory changes are now available here.

The call for applications for the BiR&D Cross-Disciplinary PhD Thesis Awards 2021 is now open.

BiR&D is the association of multinational industrial companies with significant R&D activities in Belgium. Its mission is to stimulate and improve the attractiveness and efficiency of industrial R&D in Belgium by influencing collaborative innovation in the face of international competition (www.birdbelgium.com).

These four Prizes, worth € 5,000 each, reward doctoral theses with a potential for industrial valorization and an interdisciplinary approach. Two Prizes will be awarded in the field of "Life & Health Sciences" and two Prizes will be awarded in the field of "Science & Technology". These Prizes are also open to researchers who have completed their PhD in the fields of sustainability, circular economy, renewable energies and climate change.

Eligibility criteria: The PhD thesis must have been defended, between 1 November 2019 and 31 October 2020, in a Belgian university or at the ERM.

Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck Prize for Incurable Diseases 2021

The "Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique – FNRS" will grant, in 2021, the triennial and international "GAGNA A. & Ch. VAN HECK PRIZE FOR INCURABLE DISEASES", amounting to 75.000 €, to a scientist or a medical doctor, in recognition of a research work which has contributed to the treatment of a disease currently incurable, or which has raised hopes for curing the disease. 

The Prize is intended to reward a work submitted by one researcher or a team of maximum two researchers.

The Nominee must be proposed by a Sponsor duly qualified to appreciate the Nominee’s work, who will provide:

  • a signed justification of his/her support in a document (of 5 to 10 pages) providing details on the Nominee’s merits,
  • the CV of the Nominee, including a list of received Prizes,
  • the complete list of publications of the Nominee.
