- Edmond Sterpin, Associated Professor in both KU Leuven and UCLouvain, was awarded the SCK CEN Chair 'Roger Van Geen' world Prize for his research achievements in the nuclear sciences.
- “I am very honoured and grateful to receive the SCK CEN Chair ″Roger Van Geen″. Being awarded alongside prestigious researchers is a strong motivation to pursue my research efforts even further. It is also a recognition of the importance of medical physics in the realm of atomic and nuclear physics. The chair will allow me to disseminate to a wider audience the scientific bases of the discipline. Moreover, the major challenges of the moment can be addressed, in the particular context of the development of a cutting-edge research program at the newly built PARTICLE proton therapy center in Leuven, the first of its kind in Belgium, “ says Edmond Sterpin.
- This 12,500€ Prize is awarded for a substantial and original contribution to the field of nuclear energy and/or nuclear radiation.
