Thanks to the generous patronage of a private donator, the Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS will grant, in 2024, an Award in recognition of an outstanding PhD thesis, publicly defended in a university of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, that presents an original contribution in the field of medical microbiology and infectious diseases.

Main features

  • Rewards a PhD thesis that presents an original contribution in the field of medical microbiology and infectious diseases.​
  • Amount: 15.000 €. Half of the amount is awarded to the laureate for personal use, the other half is allocated to the laureate's laboratory in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels where the PhD thesis was conducted.

Eligible applicants

  • Applicants must have publicly defended their PhD thesis between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2023 in a university of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels.
  • The PhD thesis may not have been previously rewarded, except by an honorary Award.

Call timeline

  • Opening of the call: 4 December 2023
  • Deadline of the call: 4 March 2024
  • Jury meeting: Spring 2024

Applications, written in English, must be sent electronically to prix@frs-fnrs.be on 4 March 2024 at the latest.
 
The requested documents are:

  • The application form duly completed and signed.
  • A detailled curriculum vitae.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • An electronic version of the thesis
