The FNRS.news

To inform the public and allow them to better know its researchers, the FNRS has published a quarterly magazine since 1990. This magazine has undergone several transformations over the years. First called "La Lettre du FNRS", it transformed into "FNRSNEWS" in 2010 then into "FNRS.news" in 2018. The fnrs.news is widely distributed, both to those close to the FNRS (managers, members of the Commissions, etc.) and to the general public (individuals, media, schools).

February 2026, FNRS.news no. 136

Exploring Humans and Society

The feature of this FNRS.NEWS 136 issue is devoted to the methods and rigor of the human and social sciences. To decipher, observe, analyse and understand our behaviours, power dynamics, as well as cultural, political and legal developments, researchers in the human and social sciences rely on extremely rigorous — yet sometimes little-known or underestimated — methodologies. We therefore chose to give them a voice.

  • You will also find the editorial by Véronique Halloin, Secretary General of the FNRS, along with our regular sections, including the latest discoveries by our researchers and FNRS news.

  • The “Prise de vue” of this issue features Etienne Klein, Director of Research at the CEA. He reflects on his career as a researcher, on research more broadly, as well as on science communication and popularisation.

  • The Académie pages give the floor to Laurence Bouquiaux, Full Professor in the Department of Philosophy at ULiège and Member of the Class of Letters and of Moral and Political Sciences of the Royal Academy of Belgium. She looks back at “certain aspects of the widening gap between science and the public in recent years.”
