APPEL WEL-T INVESTIGATOR PROGRAMME 2024

Le FRFS et le WEL Research Institute ont ouvert le deuxième appel « WEL-T Investigator Programme » financé par la Région wallonne pour des programmes de recherche fondamentale stratégique d’excellence en ingénierie, chimie et physique en vue de développer des innovations de rupture pouvant mener à des applications industrielles visant une transition durable. Celui-ci est ouvert aux chercheurs des universités de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles établis (Advanced grants, max. 350.000 € /an) ou en début de carrière (Starting grants, max. 200.000 €/an). 

Contexte de l’appel :

L’instrument de financement WEL-T (Walloon ExceLence in Technology) correspond à un axe stratégique du FRFS et un département du WEL Research Institute.  Au travers de cet instrument, la Région wallonne octroie des moyens significatifs sur plusieurs années aux Investigateurs WEL-T au sein du WEL Research Institute pour leur permettre de développer des programmes de recherche ambitieux et de réaliser ainsi de nouvelles percées scientifiques. Ces programmes représentent un pilier du laboratoire des Investigateurs du WEL Research Institute et sont flexibles pour leur permettre d'adapter l'orientation de leurs travaux si nécessaire. Les Investigateurs du WEL Research Institute doivent démontrer leur excellence scientifique, leur connaissance des besoins en matière de transition durable dans leur domaine, et leur volonté de rechercher des opportunités d'application pour leurs découvertes. 

Calendrier :

  • Ouverture de l’appel : 17 septembre 2024
  • Clôture de l’appel : 7 novembre 2024
  • Etapes d’évaluation des programmes : décembre 2024 – avril 2025
  • Communication des décisions de financement : fin juin 2025
  • Démarrage des programmes : 1er octobre 2025

Project duration and maximum budget

The maximum amount of requested funding per project is 300.000 EUR for a total period of three years.

Eligibility rules

All eligibility rules and criteria can be found in the PINT-MULTI regulations. Please refer to criteria applicable for calls co-funded by the European Commission.

Forms to be submitted

Applicants to F.R.S.-FNRS funding must provide basic administrative data by submitting an administrative application on e-space within 5 working days after the general deadline of the EUP AH&W call to be eligible. Please select the “PINT-MULTI” funding instrument when creating the administrative application. Proposals invited to the second stage will be able to complete the pre-proposal form and provide information for the full proposal upon validation by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

Admitted costs

Please note that personnel costs (Article III.6) have an annual average cap of 80,000 euros for this call. For the administrative application on e-space, costs such as “Consumables”, “Travel”, and “Other” should all be included in the “operating expenses” category in the form.

For “overhead” costs:

Operating expenses: up to 1% within the granted budget. This percentage should be included in the requested operating budget.

Personnel: up to 2% outside of the granted budget. This percentage will be paid upon reimbursement of expenses to institutions by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

Project duration and maximum budget

The maximum amount of requested funding per project is 200.000 EUR for a total period of three years. If the project involves the recruitment of a PhD student, the project duration of the F.R.S.-FNRS sub-project could be up to four years.

Eligibility rules

All eligibility rules and criteria can be found in the PINT-MULTI regulations. This call is NOT co-funded by the European Commission (see article III.6).

Forms to be submitted

Applicants to F.R.S.-FNRS funding must provide basic administrative data by submitting an administrative application on e-space within 5 working days after the general deadline of the TRANSCAN3 call to be eligible. Please select the “PINT-MULTI” funding instrument when creating the administrative application. Proposals invited to the second stage will be able to complete the pre-proposal form and provide information for the full proposal upon validation by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

Non-permissible costs

“Overhead” is not an eligible cost. If the project is selected for funding, these costs will be subject to a separate agreement between the institution of the beneficiary and the F.R.S.-FNRS.
