Results of the 2023 bilateral call for projects between the FNRS and the "JSPS" (Japan)

The FNRS, in partnership with the "Japan Society for the Promotion of Science - JSPS" (Japan), is pleased to announce the results of the 2023 call for projects under the "PINT-BILAT-M" instrument (bilateral research mobility projects).

11 applications underwent evaluation procedures by the FNRS and the JSPS (Japan), and the agencies jointly selected one project for funding, details of which can be found in the list below.

The Belgian team funded by the FNRS will receive a maximum of €15,000 over a two-year period to finance, in particular, travel, scientific workshops/conferences and, possibly, operating costs. The project will be carried out in collaboration with a Japanese team, which will be funded by the JSPS (Japan).

Opening of a new CHIST-ERA 2023 call for proposals

CHIST-ERA is looking for transformative and highly multidisciplinary research projects. These projects should explore new ideas that are likely to have a significant long-term scientific and technical impact. Each year, CHIST-ERA launches a call for research proposals on two new themes of emerging scientific importance.

In the 2023 call, two distinct topics are addressed, namely:

"Multidimensional Geographic Information Systems (MultiGIS)

"Smart Contracts for Digital Transformation Ecosystems (SmartC)".

Opening of the last JPI AMR 2024 call

The last call 2024 of the European network JPI AMR is open: "Interventions that move forward to promote actions to counter the emergence and spread of bacterial and fungal resistance and improve treatments"

Opening of the bilateral call for mobility projects 2024 between the FNRS and the NSTC (Taiwan)

As part of the bilateral agreements, a call for projects with Taiwan ("The National Science and Technology Council - NSTC") is currently open.

Call for applications: Doctoral or postdoctoral fellowships in China (2024-2025)

Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) and the F.R.S.-FNRS have concluded an agreement with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) allowing the granting of research scholarships to researchers from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles to spend a period of time in a Chinese university, as part of a doctorate (in cotutelle or not) or a post-doctorate.

Scholarships may be awarded for :

  • Long-term: 1 year (renewable up to 3 times for doctoral scholarships, non-renewable for post-doctoral scholarships).
  • Short-term: 6 months maximum (doctorate and post-doctorate), non-renewable.

Full details of the priority areas and application procedures are available on the WBI website.

Applications are due by 10 February 2024. They must be submitted directly to WBI.


Results of the 2023 bilateral call for mobility projects with "The Polish Academy of Sciences - PAS" (Poland)

The FNRS, in partnership with "The Polish Academy of Sciences - PAS" (Poland), is pleased to announce the results of the call launched in early July 2023 under the PINT-BILAT-M instrument (bilateral research mobility projects).

Three projects were subjected to scientific evaluation procedures by the FNRS and the PAS, and the agencies jointly decided to select two projects for funding, details of which can be found in the attached table.

Each team funded by the FNRS will receive a maximum of €15,000 over a two-year period to finance travel, scientific workshops/conferences and, possibly, operating costs.

The projects will be carried out in collaboration with Polish teams, which will be funded by "PAS" (Poland).
