Following the success of the first three editions in 2016, 2018 and 2021, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and Quebec are relaunching their collaborative research programme. A 4th call for proposals will be opened on 26 July 2024 by the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS) and the Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ).
- The main objective of this programme is to promote the advancement of research through cross-sectoral and international collaborations.
- A maximum of 6 joint research projects will be funded.
- The amount of the grant is as follows:
- Teams must be made up of a minimum of 3 people, i.e. 1 promoter from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, 1 principal investigator from Quebec and 1 co-investigator from Quebec.
- This call for proposals is open to university researchers, clinical researchers, college researchers and other research professionals.
- Quebec teams must be made up of people whose areas of research and expertise cover at least two of the research sectors covered by the FRQ: natural sciences, mathematics and engineering (NSE), social sciences and humanities, arts and literature (SSHAL), and life and health sciences.
- Pre-proposals: 25 September 2024, 14:00 (Brussels) and 16:00 (Montreal)
Eligible pre-proposals will be evaluated by a joint peer review committee. Only teams whose pre-proposals are ranked in the top 25 will be invited to submit a proposal.
- Proposals: 18 February 2025, 14:00 (Brussels) and 16:00 (Montreal) *By invitation only*
- All documents must be submitted on the project submission platform (e-space) of the FNRS (the Fund managing the call) by the project promoter from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
- An FRQnet administrative form accessible under the Health sector portfolio will also be required for teams from Quebec.

The FNRS is launching a call "Audacious Medical Grant" in the field of neurosciences. This funding is made possible thanks to a private Patronage.
The candidate must be affiliated to a university of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and meet the standard eligibility requirements of the PDR instrument.
Projects must be submitted electronically using the web-based application of the FNRS e-space (section: “Submit a new application”). The number of applications that can be submitted by a given candidate is limited to one for the 2024 edition.

An INFRA-GEQ application allows you to apply for funding for the acquisition of major specialist equipment, the setting up of research infrastructures or the upgrading of existing facilities. Funding of between €300,000 and a maximum of €800,000 can be requested, to be spread over a period of 3 or 6 years, to cover expenditure on equipment as well as certain personnel and operating costs.
