On December 12, 2023, the FNRS Board of Directors awarded a WelCHANGE funding to 20 candidates.

WelCHANGE is a new funding program which supports research projects in Human and Social sciences with potential societal impact, and encourages the emergence of interdisciplinary approaches.

On December 12, 2023, the FRIA Board of Directors awarded a doctoral grant to the following candidates.

The Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS and the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) will grant, in 2024, the Nokia Bell Scientific Award in recognition of an outstanding PhD thesis that brings the most original contribution in the field of information and communication technologies.

Nokia Bell Scientific Award 2024

Eligible topics:

• Artificial/augmented intelligence
• Artificial Intelligence assisted software development
• Big data and analytics
• Decentralized/Trustless Software
• Systems Edge and cloud computing F
• ixed and wireless communication
• Optical communication
• Signal processing
• Software engineering for cyber-physical systems 

Amount: 8.000 € for personal use (Nokia has no responsibility for any usage of the Award).

Eligible candidates

• The PhD thesis must have been publicly defended between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2023 in a Belgian university or the Royal Military Academy.
• Candidates must be affiliated to a university or research institute (worldwide) in a research position at the submission deadline (March 11, 2024). ​
• The PhD thesis may have been partially or entirely conducted in collaboration with Nokia Bell and its subsidiaries. ​
• Employees from Nokia Bell and its subsidiaries are not eligible for the Award.
