The first FNRS WelCHANGE call is open

This new programme provides funding for projects in Human and Social Sciences with potential societal impacts  

 

FNRS WelCHANGE is a new funding programme for research projects

  • carried out by a main promoter in Human and Social Sciences,
  • with potential societal impacts. 

The objective of this FNRS initiative is to enable the development of projects in strategic societal themes, such as major transitions, as well as the emergence of interdisciplinary approaches. All fields of HSS are eligible.

These projects, which may be single or multi-university, must be led by a main promoter in HSS, in possible collaboration with co-promoters in SVS or SEN.

In practice, the FNRS WelCHANGE programme offers financial support over 4 years, including operating costs, personnel costs, and small equipment.

Baillet Latour Biomedical Award 2024 - Cancer

On the initiative of the Baillet Latour Fund, the prestigious Baillet Latour Biomedical Award will be awarded in 2024 to independent investigators of any nationality in the early phase of their career to conduct biomedical research in Belgium and to consolidate their independent research team and program.

Topic of the call: "Cancer". ​

Amount: 1.000.000 € over 5 years.​​

The research project

The research project must be conducted in Belgium and pertain to basic, translational or clinical biomedical research.

Eligible expenses

Eligible expenses encompass personnel costs (excluding the salary of the PI), running costs and equipment. Overhead costs are not eligible.

Eligible candidates

Applicants must hold a PhD degree awarded no more than 12 years prior to the deadline for applications i.e. June 30th 2011 (possibly extended in case of eligible career breaks). ​

Applicants must be affiliated to a Belgian University, a Belgian University Hospital or an eligible Belgian Research Institute (see regulations). ​

Applicants must be affiliated to their Institution until June 30th, 2029.​​

Call schedule

Opening of the call: April 3rd, 2023

Deadline of the call: June 30th, 2023

First Jury meeting: January 2024

Second Jury meeting: February 2024

Start of the Award: July 1st, 2024​​

Applications, written in English, must be submitted via the online application system available on www.blba.be by June 30th, 2023 at the latest.

An Advanced ERC Grant for François-Xavier Standaert!

Congratulations to François-Xavier Standaert, FNRS ….. at UCLouvain. He gets his third ERC Grant! He was already awarded an ERC Starting Grant and an ERC Consolidator Grant.
The title of his project is: Connecting Symmetric and Asymmetric Cryptography for Leakage and Faults
