M-ERA.NET (Call 2025) “Transnational call for research and innovation on materials and battery technologies” (2)

Project duration and maximum budget

The maximum amount of requested funding per project is 200.000 EUR for a total period of 3 years.

Eligibility rules

All eligibility rules and criteria can be found in the PINT-MULTI regulations. This call is not co-funded by the European Commission (see article III.6).

Forms to be submitted

Applicants to F.R.S.-FNRS funding must submit an administrative application on e-space within 5 working days after the general deadline of the M-ERA.NET call to be eligible. Please select the “PINT-MULTI” funding instrument when creating the administrative application. 

Admitted costs

Please note that personnel costs (Article III.6) have an annual average cap of 50,000 euros for this call. For the administrative application on e-space, costs such as “Consumables”, “Travel”, and “Other” should all be included in the “operating expenses” category in the form.

For “overhead” costs:

  • Operating expenses: up to 1% within the granted budget. This percentage should be included in the requested operating budget.
  • Personnel: up to 2% outside of the granted budget. This percentage will be paid upon reimbursement of expenses to institutions by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

Call for projects - Partenariat Hubert Curien Tournesol 2026

The Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) Tournesol develops scientific and technological cooperation between higher education and research establishments and public bodies in Wallonia-Brussels and France in the field of fundamental research.

The funds granted cover the mobility and accommodation costs of researchers selected as part of joint projects. The missions funded are of short duration, of the order of one to two weeks per year and per project. The duration of the projects is a maximum of two years. The budget allocated to each project has been increased, and now amounts to €3,000 per year for the Wallonia-Brussels Federation team involved in a selected project.

As of this year, applications must be submitted exclusively via the FNRS's E-Space platform.
The deadline for applications is 2 p.m. on 16 June 2025.
Projects will start on 1 January 2026.
Applications must be co-submitted. It is therefore essential to ensure that your French partner submits the documents to the French side using this link.

Opening of the 2025 bilateral mobility call between the FNRS and the NSFC (China)

Opening of the bilateral mobility call between the FNRS and its Chinese sister institution (‘The National Natural Science Foundation of China - NSFC’).

As part of the bilateral agreements, a call for projects is currently open with China (‘NSFC’).

Research mobility : FNRS signs a new agreement with a Spanish institution

Earlier this year, the FNRS signed a new bilateral agreement with a Spanish sister institution, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).

On the FNRS side, this agreement is part of the “PINT- BILAT- M” instrument and aims to encourage the mobility of researchers for short-term missions and the emergence of joint projects between teams from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (FWB) and Spanish teams.

A first bilateral call for mobility projects 2025 will be jointly launched by the two institutions around June/July 2025, with a deadline for electronic submission of applications set for September 30, 2025 (at 2pm) to the FNRS via e-space.

Call for Nominations for the 41st (2025) International Prize for Biology organised by the JSPS

The research field for this year’s Prize is "Neurobiology."
 
This Prize, organised by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), is awarded annually to a biologist selected by the Committee for their overall body of research and consists of a medal and a reward of 10 million yen.
The International Prize for Biology commemorates this year the 60th anniversary of Emperor Showa’s reign and his long-standing dedication to biological research. It also honors the emeritus Emperor, who worked for many years to advance the study of the taxonomy of gobiid fish while continuously contributing to the development of this Prize.
The award ceremony will take place in the presence of Their Imperial Highnesses, Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Akishino. In parallel with the ceremony, a commemorative symposium will also be organized, and the Laureate is invited to participate in both events.
